[the traveler has appeared on the edge of town along the road. anyone in the surrounding buildings may have heard it chirping and calling out as it runs toward the town square. and anyone it encounters along the way will have a close to three foot tall red cloaked creature running circles around them.

the traveler flops down in the sand and rolls in it for a moment. it gets up and starts looking around, but it can't see the familiar mountain at all.

climbing to the nearest dune it calls]

[the traveler leans down and brings its face close to the iridescent bird. what a strange creature. it sings, but not like the cloth creatures and yet it seems to fly]

[ The first name to come to mind, little traveler! Ikki hums back at the traveler, wondering for the first time if she can learn this language, or if it's just singing to itself without meaning. ]

D'you know what that is? [ She taps the ground they're sitting on, curiously. ]

time to go! the traveler sends another note of music and then turns, running to the closest building that resembles Kazama's drawing. it's the grocery store! is this what you wanted? it stands outside the building, chirruping at Kazama]

[HNNNNGH!!! running up the side of this mountain is a lot harder than it looks. but the trial is the important thing! the traveler trudges up the side of the mountain, continuing forward until it begins to reach the peak.

and then something doesn't seem right.

the traveler stops, looking around confused.]

the traveler stops pipping and looks up at billy, tilting its head to one side. what is the stranger doing? it looks down at its cloak and then up at billy, then tries to waggle the cloak like he's waving the arms of his hoodie.

it stops weaving and looks back at Emil, tilts its head to the side and then tries to mimic the sound it heard in chimes like a violin.]

[it's so confusing. it doesn't seem like home at all.

the traveler ruffles its cloak and runs in a wide circle, checking the area out before finally getting frustrated and flopping down onto its face.]

[Well, that answers no questions at all. But the creature is plainly distressed. Loki crouches down by it and gently pats its head.]

...she's not sure what comes next. She hums back the last line that had come after she'd been mimicked, and points at the rock again, wondering if that's what it had meant. ]
