[the traveler has appeared on the edge of town along the road. anyone in the surrounding buildings may have heard it chirping and calling out as it runs toward the town square. and anyone it encounters along the way will have a close to three foot tall red cloaked creature running circles around them.

[Aang finds said traveled circling him as he goes through town. After a moment of dumbfoundedness, he'll just enjoy the musical chirping and start tapping his foot in beat.]

< oh! oh what are you? what? whaaaaaat>

[the traveler sees this new being and runs towards it, chirping loudly and running circles around them]

[Loki listens to the chirping idly at first, and from a safe distance. For a moment, he almost considers ignoring it, but he can't help but be interested in puzzles. It's like an itch he must scratch. And a language he doesn't know or automatically understand qualifies as an interesting diversion.

After a few moments of consideration, he moves to stand out where he's easily visible and whistles at the Traveler, a simple tonal progression of mathematical precision as if counting, then does a few sums.

He ends it with a raised eyebrow, head tilted slightly]

Though can you perhaps understand me just speaking?

<THIS ONE SINGS!!!! and makes other sounds, but IT SINGS>

[Loki, you just gave the traveler its best moment so far. it runs toward him and starts spinning circles around his gigantic form, chirping and trying to charge up his---]

[Aang laughs as he watches this weird little newcomer running around him.]

[Jack calls out to the chirpy thingy. Had his small wooden knob come home to him at last?!]

[after letting out a huge sound wave, it starts running toward the sound of jack's voice]

[Well, that certainly got a reaction. Apparently that's the way to go about communicating with this little... person? thing?

Yes, this is definitely bemusement he feels, watching the tiny little creature, half his height, running circles around him.

But no reaction to the words. So this is to be a puzzle indeed. He likes that.

No longer so concerned about dignity when there's something to think very hard at, he sinks down to sit on the ground. After a moment he points at himself and whistles something that sounds tonally like his name. He tilts his head again in obvious inquiry, then points at the Traveler.]

[That is....FAR too loud to be his beloved Knob! Jack stands stock-still, waiting for the oncoming rush.

What else is a pirate to do in such a situation?]

<whoa, this companion has legs coming out of its head area. ...doesn't that hurt? how does it move? OH, IT SANG AGAIN>

[when loki sits down, the traveler sits down, too, going quiet and tilting its head at the taller man. are they meditating? is that why he wants to sit?]

[FROM THE BUSHES!!! a meter tall creature wrapped in red cloth comes running out toward Jack and stops dead upon seeing him. what.]

[Kazuma was sitting on a bench near the fountain, reading a book when he heard the odd chirping sounds. It was getting louder? He thought maybe there may have been some odd bird nearby, but he looks up from his book and sees this...little person? He tilts his head. Was it a person?]

[Okay. It's. A.

What is it.]

Hallo, tall...chirpy.....wait.

[He tries to imitate the tonal sound that the creature is making. Jack is used to going native.]

[Dunno! But it's definitely coming your way, Kazuma. Singing, in fact. Because what is this wondrous place and why do the things here not have sand in everything]

[Hm.

Curious, Loki copies the tones of the Traveler's singing with perfect mimicry. He points at the Traveler again, the tip of his finger gently tapping its cloak.]

He's not sure if he's getting through here. But this is a challenge. He loves a challenge.

< IT'S ANOTHER TRAVELER. ...even if it looks weird. Oooooh, let's be friends!>

[the traveler runs up to Jack and starts running circles around him, chirping]

[the cloak glows a little when it's tapped and the traveler stands up, sending out a sound wave to charge up Loki's...."scarf". wherever it is]

Oi! Slow down, lad! You want to do WHAT to my Pekingese?!

Erm....I mean....right. Sorry, my.....tweeter is rusty....Ahem: ♪♪♪♪♪♪♪♪.

[...Ok, he can't understand a single thing of that, but it sounded nice.]

You have a beautiful song...[He's...not even sure the Traveler even understood that, but he'll compliment it anyway]

Loki is on his feet in an instant, wary as he senses... something.

But it's not hostile. He has no idea what it is, quite, and he's even more curious now.

He sinks back down to sitting, chin in hand for a moment as he contemplates what he just felt, how he might copy it with a bit of magic.

Well, why not. It was harmless.

He hums quietly to himself as he works out a little diagram on the ground, then turns his attention back to the Traveler.

He gently touche's the Traveler's cloak and once again, mimics the tone the Traveler made, this time adding in a bit of magic in a fair copy of what it felt like the little thing was trying to do.]

[the traveler suddenly trips and goes face first onto the ground]

[Reaching the fountain, the traveler bumps up against the edge and hoists itself up so it can be where Kazuma is. Then it stops and turns to him.]

Bugger!

[Jack will try to lift the creature up.]

Tweety tweety ♪♪♪ tweety-weety rum?

[Belle just happens to be out and about when she hears the traveler's chirping. Curious, she follows the sound to the edge of the village, where she finds it.]
