[the traveler has appeared on the edge of town along the road. anyone in the surrounding buildings may have heard it chirping and calling out as it runs toward the town square. and anyone it encounters along the way will have a close to three foot tall red cloaked creature running circles around them.

_{[Aww. This little guy is... well, kind of cute. Kind of like Simba was, you know, being a lion cube. The singing is kind of interesting though. If he wasn't crazy, he would say that the singing is a language, but he's not going to assume anything. That's a good way to get yourself stabbed or something by another race, isn't it?

[Another one that sings! The traveler abruptly changes directions and starts running toward Jim, twittering the entire time.]

♫♫♫♪　♪♪♪　♫♫♪　♪~

Whoa, you look a little unsteady there little guy.

_{[He kneels and reaches out, steading him gently, because he's to cute to be a real threat.]}

So... I guess singing is the way you communicate, huh?

[The hand out towards it get a nudge with its face, rubbing against it as it chirps to say hello.]

Heh, look at you.

_{[He rubs back gently, smiling.]}

So, what's the, uh, tune for your name then?

[It chirps again and a little glyph shows up in the air by its head before fading away.]

_{[Oh, well, that was fun, wasn't it. So, pick that song with no lyrics and pictures? Should be easy, right?]}

Uh... so I'm guessing the picture was a clue?

[It calls again, the symbol showing up and then it chirps at Jim, running around him.]

_{Well, that was no help. He had never seen that symbol in his life or had any reference for it, so...

He watched the little guy wander around him, the idea of an excited pigeon coming to mind for some reason.]}

Ah, I might need a few more clues, little guy. I'm not familiar with that symbol.

[The traveler tilts its head and then sings again.]

[It turns and runs a circle around Jim, singing at him.]

_{[Well, this was really getting nowhere fast, wasn't it? It seemed the only thing to do was purse his lips and repeat the other's tune as best he could, hoping he hadn't just insulted him or something. But, come one, this was kind of a steep learning curve, wasn't it?]}

[It's okay, Jim, don't worry about it. With Jim whistling, the traveler seems much happier and presses up against his side, its cloak glowing softly from the proximity.]

_{[First a lion cub and now this. Seriously, why so many cute things? He smiled, though, and rubbed the cloaked being's side and suddenly grinned, whistling an old rock tune he'd heard on his step-father's radio in the car before he ended up crashing it in the end -

I Lock Rock and Roll.]}

[Songs are one thing the traveler understands and after a few bars, it starts mimicking the tune.]

[the traveler takes the bobbing as a method of flying and it flaps, rising up into the air as it sings along]
