[the traveler has appeared on the edge of town along the road. anyone in the surrounding buildings may have heard it chirping and calling out as it runs toward the town square. and anyone it encounters along the way will have a close to three foot tall red cloaked creature running circles around them.

[The gesture catches its attention and the traveler lets out a peal of song before following close after Jack.]

[He'll try to whistle the refrain so that the Traveler can learn it and join in.]

[It's never heard anything like this and it stares up at Jack, mesmerized. It tries to chirp along, but it doesn't do very well since its tones are limited.]

...............Not so bad. Might actually be alright in time, once you learn it up.

There's a great lovely mermaid what lives in our waters, here. Lovely buxom lass. You might get on with her.

[The traveler tilts its head to the side again, looking up at Jack. He isn't singing anymore so the traveler isn't sure what to do.]

[It runs a circle around Jack while singing, mimicking his tones. What is a name, Jack? It does not understand.]

[Wow, that makes the pirate kinda dizzy, actually. He reels back a staggering step, arms flung out for balance. Then:]

Sigmund? You never told me you were German.

[He gives the thing a doubtful look, but...oh well.]

Come now, Sigmund. We're nearly at the pub!

[And Jack begins whistling a lively tune that has nothing to do with Germans or pubs and has something to do with a widow walking the shore and waiting for her husband who will come home nevermore.]

[It follows after him, mimicking the song as best it can, happy to finally be traveling.]

Do you mind if I call you Siggy? 'S not as regimented and alarming. Now Siggy, my good......thing: where I come from, we treat strangers to a round or two. Even the Germans! I expect you'll want some sort of warm ale.

[And very graciously Jack opens and holds the door to Good Spirits.]

[Oh! A new level! The traveler stops by the door and lets out a loud chirp, the sound waves washing over the building and it looks to Jack. Aren't they supposed to stop for a vision before going through a door?]

[The visions usually hit later, on the way OUT the door.]

Well? Go in go in! ♪♪♪! Dry as a bone, me!

It tilts its head and then bumps up against the steps to the door, laboriously climbing up over each one until it makes it inside.
